New Delhi: With Delhi assembly elections round the corner, top leaders and star campaigners from various parties are hitting the campaign trail. The elections are witnessing high-octane campaigning from major political parties. On Tuesday, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will boost the Congress campaign by addressing two election rallies, a party leader said.
Rahul Gandhi in Patparganj and Okhla
Gandhi, who had to cancel his campaign rallies last week due to health issues, is set to address rallies in the Patparganj and Okhla constituencies on Tuesday, according to former Union minister Pradeep Jain Aditya. The Congress leader had previously spoken at a rally in Seelampur on January 14 but was soon had to opt out due to poor health, leading to the cancellation of several subsequent rallies.
Yogi Adityanath in Mangolpuri, Chhath Ghat DDA Park
The BJP is also leaving no stone unturned in roping in its star campaigners. Uttar Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will hold three public meetings in Delhi on Tuesday. According to the proposed programme, at 12.40 pm, he will leave for Ghaziabad by plane from Amausi Airport. From there, he will reach Mangolpuri in New Delhi at 2:15 pm and address a public gathering in the primary school on Kala Mandir Road and seek votes for the party candidate Rajkumar Chauhan. Later, he will hold a public rally in support of candidate Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh at Chhath Ghat DDA Park in Shiv Vihar of JJ Colony and in support of candidate Umang Bajaj at Buddha Nagar Main Market of Indirapuri.
The AAP decisively defeated both the Congress and the BJP in the 2015 and 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, securing 67 and 62 out of the 70 seats, respectively. The Congress failed to win a single seat on both occasions. Voting in Delhi is scheduled to take place on February 5 and the results will be announced on February 8.
