New Delhi: Delhi Police has registered a case against Ramesh Bihduri’s son Manish Bidhuri over Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violation after Chief Minister Atishi’s allegation of interference during ‘silence period’. In a separate case, it has also booked Atishi for violating the MCC.
On Monday, Atishi, who is the AAP candidate for the Kalkaji constituency, accused her BJP opponent Ramesh Bidhuri’s son, Manish Bidhuri, of interfering in the Delhi seat during the ‘silence period’. Atishi claimed that Manish was seen with 3 to 4 outsiders in the area, despite the ban on external interference during this period. The CM also alleged that Bidhuri’s team from Tughlakabad had been intimidating voters in the JJ camp, Girinagar area.
What Atishi claimed
Atishi was quoted as saying by ANI on Monday: “Today, the election campaigns have ended. During the silence period after 6 pm, no one from outside is allowed in the Assembly constituency. We received information that someone from Ramesh Bidhuri’s Tughlakabad team is threatening the people in JJ camp, Girinagar area.” Atishi stated that she had notified the authorities about the alleged interference.
Atishi added: “We saw that Ramesh Bidhuri’s son, Manish Bidhuri was sitting here with 3-4 other outsiders. I informed the administration about this.”
Case against Atishi and her supporter
In another case, it was found that Atishi was moving around with her convoy even after the campaign ended, breaching the MCC. The police reportedly recorded a video, which was opposed by Atishi’s supporters, and they allegedly attempted to snatch the phone from the police.
In response, the Delhi police have filed an FIR against Atishi and her workers. The police have filed two FIRs, one for moving with a convoy and the other for obstructing government work.
