New Delhi: A city court would pass an order on the anticipatory bail plea filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA, booked in a case of allegedly attacking a Delhi Police team in the national capital on February 10.
Special judge Jitendra Singh, who had on February 13 granted protection from arrest to the AAP MLA till February 24, extended the protection for a day and posted the matter for February 25 for hearing arguments from the prosecution and the defence.
Delhi Police, while placing on the record a CCTV footage and statement of witnesses, sought from the court Khan’s custody to interrogate him and ascertain if he too was present at the scene of the alleged attack.
What did the court say?
“Time is required for going through the CCTV Footage, which has been produced by the investigating officer (IO) for understanding the nature and gravity of the accusation. (To) be listed for clarification and order on February 25, 2025. In the meanwhile, the prosecution is directed to file list of pending cases along with their status against the applicant. Interim order to continue till the next date of hearing,” the judge said, news agency PTI reported.
Court earlier granted interim protection from arrest to Khan
The court earlier granted Khan interim protection from arrest while hearing arguments in the anticipatory bail application filed by Khan. It had also directed the police during the last hearing to bring CCTV footage and all other documents related to the said incident before the court on February 24.
Khan, in his plea before the court earlier sought protection from arrest before joining the investigation in the case, claiming that the allegations levelled against him are false.
What has the police said?
As per the Delhi Police, Khan attacked a Delhi Police team in Jamia Nagar on February 10 and a mob led by him helped a proclaimed offender, who is an accused in an attempt-to-murder case, escape from custody.
