New Delhi: A city court on Tuesday (February 25) granted anticipatory bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA, booked in a case of allegedly attacking a Delhi Police team in the national capital on February 10.
Special judge Jitendra Singh granted Khan anticipatory bail to Khan after seeking certain clarifications from prosecution.
The court had earlier granted Khan, MLA from Delhi’s Okhala assembly constituency, protection from arrest till February 24 and had extended it by a day on Monday.
Delhi Police, while placing on the record a CCTV footage and statement of witnesses on Monday, sought from the court the AAP MLA’s custody to interrogate him and ascertain if he too was present at the scene of the alleged attack.
What did the court say on Monday?
The court had on Monday directed the prosecution is directed the prosecution to file list of pending cases along with their status against Khan and had order for continuation of the the interim order till the next date of hearing on Tuesday.
Court earlier granted interim protection from arrest to Khan
The court earlier granted Khan interim protection from arrest while hearing arguments on Khan’s anticipatory bail application. It had also directed the police earlier to bring CCTV footage and all other documents related to the said incident before the court on February 24.
Khan, in his application before the court has sought protection from arrest before joining the investigation in the case, claiming that the allegations levelled against him are false.
What has the police said?
As per the Delhi Police, the AAP MLA attacked a Delhi Police team in Jamia Nagar on February 10 and a mob led by him helped a proclaimed offender, who is an accused in an attempt-to-murder case, escape from custody.
