New Delhi: The newly elected Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has performed Yamuna Aarti at Vasudev Ghat in the national capital. She was accompanied by cabinet minister including Pravesh Verma.
Rekha Gupta, the first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, was sworn in as Delhi’s chief minister by lieutenant governor VK Saxena at a grand ceremony in Ramlila Maidan. Her council of ministers also took the oath during the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with BJP leaders like Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and Rajnath Singh, attended the ceremony. Chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from several NDA-ruled states were also present.

After the ceremony, Gupta, along with BJP leaders Baijayant Panda and Virendra Sachdeva, went to the Delhi Secretariat to officially take charge. Speaking to reporters, she promised to work without delay to achieve the goal of a “Viksit Delhi” and fulfill all promises made to the people.
After taking over charge, the Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said a cabinet meeting will be held today and the government will continuously work towards the mission of Viksit Delhi. She said the Delhi government will fulfil all the promises made during the election.
Fourth woman CM of Delhi
Gupta, who is Delhi’s fourth woman chief minister, has served three terms as a councillor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. She began her political journey with the BJP’s student wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and was president of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) in 1996. She is the fourth woman to become Delhi chief minister, after Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit and Atishi.
First cabinet meeting
The Delhi CM Rekha Gupta will hold the first cabinet meet of her government at 7.30. The cabinet meet is likely to discuss Ayushman Bharat scheme and tabling of CAG report in the Delhi Assembly. The meeting likely involves implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi. The meeting will also liley discuss Jan Arogya Yojna. Under this scheme, at least 1 lakh people will be granted Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya cards.
