New Delhi: CM Atishi addressed a press conference where she said that the inaction of BJP in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh is responsible for deteriorating air quality in the National Capital. “The AAP government’s efforts in Punjab have reduced the stubble burning activity in the state to half while it has increased 23 per cent in Haryana,” she added.
In the press conference, Delhi CM Atishi blamed BJP for the worsening air quality. She said, “The air pollution is increasing in Delhi which is resulting in an increase in AQI points. Increased pollution is also being noticed in the Yamuna river with froth observed in the Kalindi Kunj part of the river. The people of Delhi want to know the reason for this.”
Stubble burning reduced to half in Punjab
“Cheap politics of BJP is responsible for the increase in air and water pollution in Delhi. Stubble burning is the primary reason for Delhi air pollution. In Punjab due to the efforts of AAP, the incidents of stubble burning which were 71300 in 202, have reduced to 36,600 in 2023, which is 50 per cent less, according to the data by Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR),” Atishi said.
“On the other hand, as per the statistics, the incidents of stubbles have increased by 23 per cent in Haryana which is ruled by BJP. In Uttar Pradesh the cases of Uttar Pradesh have increased by 70 per cent. This exposes the inactivity of BJP in both of these states. If AAP can do it in Punjab why can’t BJP do it in Haryana and UP,” Atishi added.
Diesel buses coming from Haryana and UP
“Anand Vihar recorded very high AQI in the recent days. The Delhi buses which run in Anand Vihar are either CNG or electric but the buses coming from Haryana and UP run on Diesel. Why can’t BJP introduce Electric and CNG buses in these states,” Atishi said.
In the past few days, the air quality in Delhi has been worsening. In many areas of the city the AQI has crossed 400 mark. On Sunday, Anand Vihar recorded AQI of 445 which falls in ‘severe’ category.
