No indicators were placed on the road, leading to unawareness and subsequent accidents
Currently, work is underway to construct speed breakers and Zebra crossings in the city. During the installation of speed breakers at Clock Tower, several people fell and were injured. Local residents claim that while the speed breakers were installed, no indicators were placed on the road, leading to unawareness and subsequent accidents. Prerna Dhyani, the Smart City Public Relations Officer, explained that painting cannot be done simultaneously with the construction, so the road has been closed with barriers for safety.

Accident on 12 November prompted administration to enhance safety measures
Under the directive of Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal, the administration has taken measures to enhance road safety measures after a major road accident at ONGC area in Dehradun on 12 November in which six college students were killed after their over-speeding vehicle Innova crashed into a truck. Since then, the administration and the PWD provincial section have been constructing speed breakers at the clock tower, similar to previous installations at ONGC Chowk. Alongside this, new dividers are being set up on Rajpur Road, Mussoorie road areas. However, the daily road accidents have raised concerns about the safety measures and the working style of the police-administration.
