Dehradun: Almost three days after the tragic road accident that claimed six lives and left one youth critically injured, parents of the deceased are yet to file a formal police complaint in connection with the mishap.
Police have launched action against the illegal pubs and bars in Dehradun based on their initial probe that all the youths had a party and some of them also consumed liquor before ramming their new Innova car into a truck at ONGC Chowk.
Dehradun Police yet to get a complaint from accident victims’ families
Inspector KC Bhatt from Cantt Police station said the they were yet to receive any formal complaint from the victims’ kin.
“We have not received any complaint from the family members of the victims that could warrant case registration,” a report in the Times of India quoted Bhatt.
Based on the initial probe, police believe that truck driver was not at fault in the accident. The cops are still in consultation with the legal experts on how to proceed in the case in the absence of a complaint from the parents.
How the accident happened in Dehradun?
Six students, including three women, were killed and another was seriously injured when their Innova car collided with a truck. The accident at around 1.30am reduced the car to a mangled wreck.
The deceased, all students, have been identified as Kunal Kukreja (23), Rishabh Jain (24), Atul Agrawal (24), Kamakshi (20), Navya Goel (23), and Guneet (19). Except Kukreja who was from Himachal Pradesh, all of them hailed from Dehradun.
The seventh occupant, Siddhesh Agrawal (25), is undergoing treatment at the Synergy Hospital where is condition is said to be critical.
CM Dhami expressed grief over deaths in Dehradun accident
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the loss of life in the mishap and ordered the authorities to take strict action against the culprits.
“The news of the death of six youths in a road accident in Dehradun is extremely heart-rending. I pray to God to grant the departed souls a place at his sacred feet and give strength to the bereaved families to bear the immense pain,” he said.
