New Delhi: In the wake of a devastating midair collision in Washington, DC, that claimed the lives of 67 people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed India’s heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the United States.
His message, shared on X (formerly Twitter), highlighted India’s deep sorrow over the tragedy and its support for the American people during this difficult time.
“Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the tragic collision in Washington DC. Our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims,” PM Modi wrote. “We stand in solidarity with the people of the United States,” he added, expressing the nation’s sympathy for those affected by the unprecedented aviation disaster.
The collision, involving a US Army helicopter and an American Airlines passenger jet, plunged both aircraft into the icy waters of the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan National Airport. The incident, described as the worst aviation disaster in the US in a generation, resulted in the presumed deaths of all 64 passengers and crew aboard the American Airlines flight, along with the three soldiers on board the Army helicopter.
