New Delhi: The death toll in the LPG tanker accident on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway has risen to 20 after another victim succumbed to severe burn injuries at SMS Hospital on Saturday.
SMS Hospital Superintendent Dr Sushil Bhati confirmed the death, adding that seven people are still undergoing treatment for critical injuries at the hospital, according to a PTI report.
Massive explosion after LPG tanker collides with truck
The accident occurred on December 20 when an LPG tanker collided with a truck, triggering a massive explosion. The resulting fire engulfed a stretch of the highway, 35 vehicles suffered damages in the blast. Eleven people were killed on the day of the incident, while several others received critical injuries.
Rescue operations were launched immediately. Firefighters battled the blaze for hours to bring it under control. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
