Severe cold wave predicted
The IMD has warned of a severe cold wave in Jammu and Kashmir from December 24. It has urged the residents to brace themselves for even harsher conditions.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah has cancelled his scheduled programmes in the Jammu region to focus on addressing the issues arising out of extreme cold in the Kashmir Valley.
“In light of the severe cold spell in the Kashmir Valley and the resultant difficulties with water and electricity supply, I have decided to cancel my forthcoming programmes in Jammu and station myself in Srinagar for the next week to personally monitor the functioning of the Power department and other important departments,” Abdullah announced on social media platform X.
