New Delhi: Due to Cyclone Dana, schools in Kolhan, Jharkhand will remain closed today, October 25. Some of the districts of the state will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall today. An orange alert has been issued for East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan districts of the state. School in Jamshedpur will also observe a holiday today due to the unfavourable weather conditions. In Jamshedpur, a team of NDRF teams have been deployed to handle the situation.
As per Ranchi Meteorological Centre in-charge Abhishek Anand, along with heavy rainfall, there might also be thunderstorms and gusty winds with a speed of 60 kmph. Moreover, rainfall ranging between 115 to 204 mm is likely to occur in the next 24 hours.
IMD’s official notice on Jharkhand school closure
The Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) official notice reads, “All categories of government, non-government, aided, unaided and private schools, from kindergarten to class 12, operating in West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharswan districts under Kolhan division will remain closed on October 25 in light of the alert issued by the Meteorological Center, Ranchi, regarding heavy rainfall and strong winds under influence of cyclonic storm Dana”.
West Bengal, Odisha schools closed due to Cyclone Dana
The Odisha and West Bengal government and private schools are closed as the states are witnessing heavy rainfall due to Cyclone Dana. As per the official notice, all the schools will observe a holiday till Monday, October 28. However, the holiday might also get extended depending upon the weather condition.
Bangalore School Holiday
Despite IMD’s yellow alert, there is no official announcement regarding the school holiday in Bangalore. Schools might likely remain closed today as the weather conditions have not improved. To get updates on the school holiday, students and parents are advised to contact their respective schools.
