Hyderabad: Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning is likely at some places over North coastal AP, Rayalaseema, Yanam and South coastal AP. Strong surface winds with speed of 30-40 kmph gusting 50 kmph is likely at some places in Rayalaseema on Wednesday and Thursday, the India Meteorological Department said.
Heavy rain is likely in some places over the same places on Friday, the weather department said.
Some parts of Kurnool, Nandyala, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Annamaiya and Chittoor districts are likely to experience light to moderate to heavy rains on Wednesday. Light rain is likely in some parts of Prakasam, Nellore, YSR and Tirupati districts.
Cyclone Dana impact:
Cyclone Dana may not have a significant impact on AP and the current forecast indicates that it will have an effect on Odisha and West Bengal.
The depression over Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 6 kmph during is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm by October 23 over Bay of Bengal. It may further intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by the morning of 24th and cross Odisha, WB coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during 24th night and morning of 25 as severe cyclonic storm with wind speeds of 100-110 kmph gusting 120 kmph.

Many train services have been canceled and others were diverted to Cyclone Dana for October 23, 24 and 25. Helplines have been set up at Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Rayagada railway stations to inform the passengers about these details.
