Srinagar: Hours after the Srinagar grenade attack in which 12 civilians were injured, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha asked security forces to give tough response to terrorists and crush the terror organizations that are operating in the Union Territory. According to officials, the LG spoke to DGP Nalin Prabhat and senior officials of the security agencies over the issue.
Sinha, while adding that terrorists will have to pay a heavy price for their attack, the LG said that security forces have “full freedom” to crush terror outfits in Jammu and Kashmir. “You have full freedom to crush terrorist organisations. Do not leave any stone unturned to complete this mission,” said.
Terrorists threw grenades at the CRPF bunker
Earlier in the day, terrorists threw a grenade at a CRPF bunker in a market area in Srinagar leading to the injury of a dozen civilians. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the attack. Taking to X, he wrote, “The last few days have been dominated by headlines of attacks & encounters in parts of the valley. Today’s news of a grenade attack on innocent shoppers at the ‘Sunday market’ in Srinagar is deeply disturbing. There can be no justification for targeting innocent civilians” He added that the security forces must do everything possible to stop these continuous attacks.
J&K Congress also calls for steps to curb terrorism
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Congress also called for measures to curb terror attacks in the Union Territory. “It is deeply disturbing to learn about the unfortunate and ghastly incident of a grenade attack on shopkeepers,” Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra said in a statement on Sunday. He added that the police must take strong steps to contain such human attacks so that the public can move freely, without any kind of fear
