New Delhi: In a shocking incident that has come to light from Punjab’s Ludhiana, a couple jumped before a running train along with their nine-year-old son and killed themselves, Hindustan Times reported.
The incident occurred at Ghungrana village in Ludhiana on Thursday afternoon. Police is probing the reason behind the suicide.
Locals said that the man was engaged in installing lifts in malls and buildings and had a financial dispute with some of his business associates. People used to visit their house over the dispute, they said, and added that due to the pressure of the business associates, the family may have been forced to take their own lives.
The 32-year-old man was reportedly staying with his 30-year-old wife and nine-year-old son in Ghungrana village. He drove his car to the railway crossing on Thursday afternoon and parked it near the railway track. As the moving train approached, they flung themselves before it and died. After the locals spotted the bodies, they informed the railway police.
The bodies were sent to the civil hospital for postmortem examination and a probe was initiated. ASI Gurmel Singh, who is in-charge of the case, was quoted as saying by HT that no suicide note was found. Police is also scanning the call details of the couple’s mobile phones.
The villagers said the deceased man’s aged parents live in a separate portion of the house where the couple and their kid stayed. His father had reportedly disowned him, they revealed.
