Congress willing to put our faith and culture at risk for few votes: PM Modi in Katra

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi  on Thursday addressed a public rally in Katra, accusing the Congress party of compromising India’s faith and culture for political gains. He claimed that party’s heir previously disrespected Hindu deities while abroad. The prime minister said this an insult to India’s faith.

Here are the top quotes from his speech:

  • Congress is willing to put our faith and culture at risk for a few votes. The party heir even went abroad and claimed that our ‘devi-devta’ are not gods, which is a direct insult to our faith.
  • They have only focused on their vote bank, which is why they have deepened the divide between Jammu and Kashmir over the years. Jammu has consistently faced discrimination. We have now brought Jammu into the mainstream.
  • Two Vande Bharat trains now reach Katra from Delhi, and the conditions at Katra and Reasi railway stations have drastically improved. The construction of the Chenani Nashri tunnel has also reduced the travel time between Jammu and Srinagar.
  • Congress, under the pretense of ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’, is out spreading hate, unable to see beyond its vote bank.
  • These elections will shape the future of Jammu and Kashmir. They are crucial to ending the political dominance of the three families from Congress, NC and PDP, who have kept the region in a state of ruin for years.
  • The BJP is the party that has prioritised your growth and ended the decades-long struggles of the people here. Kashmir is an important part of our faith and cultural identity.
