New Delhi: Taking a strong note of Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane’s controversial statement against Kerala, Congress party has demanded his disqualification for the ‘divisive’ remark.
Rane reportedly labelled Kerala a ‘mini Pakistan’ while claiming that “all terrorists vote for Gandhis,” referring to the victories of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat.
Congress demands action against Nitesh Rane
AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take a note of Rane remark and take action against him. Venugopal demanded Rane’s disqualification for violating his oath of office.
Venugopal further added that the party will challenge Rane’s remarks legally and politically for branding people Wayanad ‘extremist’.
Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, VD Satheesan, also slammed Rane for his controversial remarks against the state and said that Rane should resign from his position as a minister for insulting Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka, and people of Kerala.
What Rane said against Kerala?
Rane, while addressing gathering in Purandar tehsil of Pune district on Sunday, said, “Kerala is a mini Pakistan. Terrorists (previously) voted for Rahul Gandhi and now for his sister Priyanka Gandhi.”
After facing flak from the Congress party, Rane on Monday said Kerala was very much a part of India, but and he was merely referring to the issues of religious conversion and “love jihad” in the state.

Wayanad voted for Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka
Wayanad has emerged as an stronghold of the Congress party after electing Rahul Gandhi to Lok Sabha in 2019, again in 2024.
Later Priyanka Gandhi managed to win this seat in bypolls with a massive margin after Rahul decided to leave the seat.
