New Delhi: The 84th National Convention of All India Congress Committee (AICC) is underway and on the second day of the national convention, the Congress party is holding its AICC session near Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad. During the second day of the session, the party will offer its social, political, and economic views on at least two resolutions. The AICC is being held in 64 years for the first time in Gujarat.
The 84th AICC event is titled “Nyaypath: Sankalp, Samarpan aur Sangharsh”. The event will be attended by over 1,700 elected and co-opted AICC members. The main session will be conducted between the Sabarmati Ashram and the Kochrab Ashram.
Congress general secretary in charge of communications, Jairam Ramesh, mentioned that the Preamble of the Constitution addresses the themes of social, political, and economic justice, and the resolutions will reflect the party’s perspective on these matters.
He further stated that one resolution will focus on Gujarat, whereas another will address national issues. Both of these resolutions were discussed during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting and will be considered for approval during the AICC session.
The day started with a flag hoisting ceremony, during which Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge hoisted the flag. Other members of the extended CWC were also present along with him. Following this, Kharge delivered the presidential address, and the resolutions was introduced for discussion.
Congress parliamentary party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi will also speak at the session. The program is expected to end around 5:30 PM.
