He said that Congress had tried to manipulate his words and condemned the oldest party’s reaction. Shah pointed out that since yesterday, the Congress has been distorting his remarks, and “I condemn this behaviour”. “Congress is opposed to reservation, and against the Constitution. They have also insulted Veer Savarkar. They breached all Constitutional principles by imposing the Emergency.”
He underlined that he belonged to a party that would never disrespect Dr. Ambedkar. Shah also expressed disappointment with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, pointing out that he should not have supported the Congress in their protest as the grand old party has insulted Dr Ambedkar many times.
Top quotes of Amit Shah from the presser:
- The BJP will examine all legal options against the opposition. Whatever legal action can be taken inside and outside Parliament, all possibilities will be considered.
- I want to tell Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge that you come from the very section of society to which Dr BR Ambedkar dedicated his entire life. Therefore, you should not support Congress in this malicious campaign. However, I am disappointed that you are participating in this, may be due to the pressure from Rahul Gandhi.
- Congress is anti-Ambedkar, anti-Constitution, anti-reservation, anti-Savarkar and anti-OBC, and they don’t have an answer for this.
- It is natural for parties and persons to have differing viewpoints on different issues. However, discussions should always be based on facts. The way Congress is misleading the public with distorted facts is hugely condemnable.
- Kharge ji is asking for my resignation. If it would have made him happy, I would have resigned, but it will not end his problems because he will have to sit in the same place (in the opposition) for the next 15 years.
- Congress distorted my remarks and presented them to the public. I request everyone to listen to my entire remark carefully, it will clarify everything.
- I come from a party and the society that can never insult Dr BR Ambedkar even in dreams.
