Chennai: The Tamizhag Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) ‘s inaugural state convention concluded in Vikravandi, Villupuram district, with party leader Vijay announcing its policies and action plans. Key proposals include bilingual education, proportional reservation, governor removal, and state autonomy.
Vijay criticized the BJP and DMK, labeling the former an “ideological enemy” and the latter a “political enemy. Senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan responded, accusing Vijay of mislabeling the party and noting the BJP’s inclusive policies.
Tamilisai Slams Vijay: ‘Misguided Rhetoric, Not Leadership
“He himself labels those who do not speak of separation as speaking of separation and says that he is their enemy. We cannot say that those who criticize us indirectly are not our enemy. Vijay is mislabeling the BJP. We do not speak of separation,” Tamilisai said.
Soundararajan highlighted the Jaljeevan scheme, women’s empowerment initiatives, and 33% reservation for women in BJP posts. She questioned Vijay’s comparison to MGR and NTR, citing their grassroots party involvement and service activities.
“Vijay compares himself with MGR and NTR. But he cannot be compared with them. Because both of them joined the party from the beginning and worked for the people. Similarly, Vijayakanth, despite being a film actor, was involved in many service activities. But suddenly he is saying that he should serve the people. He says that everything else is bad. How can this be right? We have seen so many conferences and speeches. Similarly, this is also just one speech,” she added.
Vijay’s criticism of the governor post, referencing Ambedkar, was met with Soundararajan’s defense of governors’ contributions. She attributed Vijay’s stance to political motivations.
The convention marked a significant step for the TVK Party, outlining its vision and sparking debate with other major parties.
