New Delhi: In a momentous start to her tenure, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta convened her inaugural cabinet meeting on Thursday evening at the civil secretariat. This significant gathering marked a pivotal transition in Delhi’s political landscape, following her swearing-in ceremony.
In the first cabinet meeting, the Delhi cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta passed two proposals. The proposals include the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Delhi and the tabling of the CAG report. The Delhi government will contribute Rs 5 lakh and the central government Rs 5 lakh for the scheme. The second proposal was about 14 CAG reports that are pending. They will first be presented in the House.
Earlier in the day, Gupta expressed her enthusiasm to reporters, stating, “After today’s swearing-in, I have taken charge at the chief minister’s office, and a cabinet meeting has been scheduled for this evening.”
Rekha Gupta, representing Shalimar Bagh, was officially sworn in as Delhi’s chief minister during a grand ceremony held at Ramlila Maidan. The event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, who administered the oath of office. Gupta’s council of ministers also took their oaths during this significant occasion, signaling a new chapter in Delhi’s administration.
The ceremony was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with prominent BJP leaders such as Union ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and Rajnath Singh. Additionally, chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from various NDA-ruled states were present, showcasing the support and solidarity within the party ranks.
As Gupta made her way to the Delhi Secretariat to officially assume her role as chief minister, she was accompanied by key figures from the BJP, including state in-charge Baijayant Panda and state president Virendra Sachdeva.
With this first cabinet meeting, Rekha Gupta aims to establish her administration’s vision for the capital, promising to address pressing issues while fostering growth and development.
