Dehradun: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today and discussed ongoing development works in the state. He highlighted the rapid progress on the first phase of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project.
CM Dhami requested PM Modi to close the old railway station in Rishikesh for proposed infrastructure development and to operate all trains from the new Yoga Nagari railway station. Additionally, he invited the Prime Minister to the upcoming National Games in Uttarakhand.
Dhami presented the Prime Minister with a shawl from Malari (Chamoli)
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The Chief Minister invited the Prime Minister to the National Games organized in Uttarakhand. He presented the Prime Minister with a shawl from Malari (Chamoli) and a replica of the Narayan Ashram.
Informed the PM about the development works being carried out in the state
Chief Minister Dhami expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of the state for the leadership, guidance, and cooperation of the Prime Minister in the development of the state. The Chief Minister informed the Prime Minister about the development works being carried out in the state. He mentioned that work is progressing rapidly on the first phase of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project. The survey work for the Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail project has been completed. The Chief Minister requested approval for this project and for the full financial expenditure to be borne by the Central Government.
Requested the closure of the old railway station in Rishikesh
The Chief Minister requested the closure of the old railway station in Rishikesh for the proposed infrastructure development works and to operate all trains from the new Yoga Nagari railway station in Rishikesh. The railway track on the land of the old station can be used for the new road system, which will improve traffic.
Expressed gratitude for Rishikesh’s selection as the iconic city for river rafting
While discussing the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister requested the release of the remaining central contribution allotted to the mission soon. Expressing gratitude for Rishikesh being selected as the iconic city for river rafting, the Chief Minister requested resources from the Centre for the Haridwar-Rishikesh Ganga Corridor and Sharda Corridor project, considering the state’s limited resources.
Asked for technical and financial support for geothermal energy project in the state
The Chief Minister informed the Prime Minister about a proposed MoU in collaboration with the Iceland Embassy for the exploitation of geothermal energy in the state. Necessary no-objection letters have been received from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India for this MoU. The Chief Minister requested all technical and financial support for this project so that Uttarakhand can play an important role in achieving the goal of carbon net zero by 2070.
The Chief Minister also requested approval for the proposals sent to the Road Transport Ministry, including the Rishikesh Bypass, Haridwar Bypass (Package 2), Dehradun-Mussoorie Connectivity, Dehradun Ring Road, Champawat Bypass, Lalkuan, Haldwani and Kathgodam Bypass, and Manaskhand Project.
