Dehradun: On Police Commemoration Day on Monday, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Rs 100 crore would be allocated for the construction of residential buildings for the policemen in the next financial year.
The policemen, including SDRF men, who are deployed in the high altitude, will now get Rs 300 per day as high-altitude allowance. They were earlier given Rs 200 as this allowance.
Enhancement in nutritional food allowance and uniform allowance for policemen
His other announcements included an increase of Rs 100 in the nutritional food allowance of the policemen and an increase of Rs 3500 in the uniform allowance given to Inspectors and Sub-inspectors. Besides, Policemen and SDRF who are deployed at more than the height of 9000, will now get Rs 300 per day as high-altitude allowance. Earlier, the high-altitude allowance was fixed as Rs 200 per day.
CM paid tributes to martyrs of policemen and paramilitary forces
CM Dhami paid tributes to the martyrs of police and paramilitary forces by offering “Pushpa Chakra” at Police Line Dehradun on Monday. He also honoured the family members of the martyr policemen on this occasion. Speaking at the function, CM Dhami said policemen of the state governments as well as paramilitary forces bear the responsibility of maintaining law and order situation, besides internal security arrangements in the country.
216 policemen, including paramilitary forces, sacrificed their lives in the last year in the country
Dhami said a total 216 policemen, including paramilitary forces, were martyred in different parts of the country in the last one year. This figure also included four martyr policemen of Uttarakhand police. He added PM Narendra Modi has established a police memorial which is a symbol of dedication of sacrifice. CM Dhami said police forces faced several challenges in the last few years. While facing difficult situations like terrorism, Left Wing Extremism in the country’s different parts, natural calamities, policemen displayed their valour and bravery.
Keeping in view the state’s strategic importance and topography, role of Uttarakhand police is important
Highlighting the strategic importance of Uttarakhand as well as its topography, Dhami said the role of Uttarakhand police is very important. He added the policing system of any state is an integral pillar of the security and prosperity of the state concerned. He told the gathering that the state government has set a target to free the “Devbhoomi Uttarakhand” from menace of drugs. An anti-narcotic force, which works at three-level, has been constituted in the state. He also said that cybercrime has become a major challenge and Uttarakhand police should be technically equipped to check it.
