Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami dedicated to the people the newly constructed Van Chetna Kendra Sports Stadium, which cost around rupees1615.62 lakh, at a function organized at Chakarpur, Khatima on Thursday.
CM Dhami recalled that he had made an announcement for this stadium as the MLA of Khatima in 2017. However, the work of the stadium could not be completed due to several hurdles, he further added. He told the people that he has got the opportunity to inaugurate this stadium as the chief minister of the state. CM Dhami hoped that the stadium will provide a sports platform to the youth of the area, where they will be able to hone their talent.
Stadium is equipped with modern facilities
CM Dhami told the gathering that the newly constructed stadium is equipped with modern facilities. The stadium has grounds for sports like basketball, football, volleyball, kabaddi, besides the hostel facilities for the players and a multi-purpose hall for indoor events. The upcoming National Games’ Mallakhamb competition will be organized in the new stadium. He said that organizing the National Games will promote interest and enthusiasm for sports among the youth of the region.
CM Dhami credited PM Modi for promoting sports culture in the country
CM Dhami also mentioned that sports also develop qualities like discipline, teamwork, and combativeness in youths, besides ensuring the physical and mental development of youths. He added Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has laid a strong foundation for promoting sports culture in the country through programs like ‘Khelo India’ and ‘Fit India Movement’ since the very beginning of his tenure.
He also made people aware that the state government is making continuous efforts to promote sports culture in the state and encourage sports persons under the guidance of PM Modi.
State government also promotes sports culture in Uttarakhand
Under the new sports policy in the state, the government is providing facilities like government jobs to national and international medal winners, free training, and education to the players of residential sports colleges and sports scholarships. Work is also being done to encourage young players through programs like Chief Minister Sports Development Fund, Chief Minister Khiladi Protsahan Yojana, Chief Minister Udyaman Khiladi Yojana.
