New Delhi: Former MLA of Mokama Anant Singh narrowly escaped after shots were fired at his convoy in Mokama area of Patna district in Bihar on Wednesday evening.
Initial reports indicated that the attack in the Mokama area was carried out by the Sonu-Monu gang, who fired 60-70 rounds at Anant Singh’s convoy. There were no reports of any casualties from the attack.
According to reports, residents of Nauranga Jalalpur village in the Mokama area had informed Anant Singh that the Sonu-Monu gang had taken over the houses of his supporters. Upon learning this, Anant Singh visited the area, where the attack took place.
Singh, a former gangster-turned-politician, had represented the Mokama assembly seat multiple times. He was disqualified because of a conviction in June 2022, related to a case in which an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and two hand grenades were recovered from his ancestral residence two years earlier. Anant Singh’s wife, Neelam Devi, is the MLA from Mokama on the RJD ticket and is backing Nitish Kumar’s JDU party currently.

This will only be revealed in the coming months.
