New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh minister and BJP leader Sanjay Singh Gangwar created a stir after he claimed that cleaning cowsheds and lying in them can cure cancer. He added that petting cows and serving them can go a long way in cutting by half dosage of blood pressure medicines.
Gangwar made these statements while addressing a gathering during the inauguration of the Kanha Gaushala, built at a cost of Rs 55 lakh, in UP’s Nougawa Pakadiya in Pilibhit district on Sunday. He also exhorted the people to celebrate their marriage anniversaries and children’s birthdays in cow shelters.
‘Stroking cow’s back can reduce BP medicine dosage’
The BJP leader urged patients suffering from blood pressure to stroke a cow’s back twice a day, while claiming that this act would help them reduce their medication dosage from 20 mg to 10 mg within 10 days.
“Blood pressure could be cured by stroking the back of the cow. There are cows here and people should pet a cow on its back every morning and evening and serve it. If the person was taking a 20 mg dose of blood pressure medicine, it would get reduced to 10 mg within 10 days,” the minister said during the event, news agency PTI reported.
Gangwar also pointed out that if a cancer patient starts cleaning a cowshed and lying there, even cancer can be cured. “If you burn cow dung cakes, you ward off mosquitoes. Everything that a cow produces is useful in some way or the other.”
About stray cattle grazing in farmers’ fields, the minister underlined that the it is caused because of lack of respect for cows. “We are not serving our mother, so the mother is harming us somewhere,” he said. Gangwar also asked Muslims to come to the cowshed on Eid. “The vermicelli made on Eid should be made in cow’s milk.”
The gaushala unveiled on Sunday will provide fodder, medicine and shelter for cows. “Our effort is to connect people with the gaushalas,” the minister said.
In 2012, Gangwar had contested the assembly polls on a BSP ticket but he lost. He joined the BJP in 2017 and emerged victorious from the Pilibhit seat. In 2022, he won again and was made a minister.
