Choreographer Sheikh Jani Basha, also known as Jani Master, was released from Chanchalguda jail on Friday in a sexual assault case, Tv9 telugu reported.
He was arrested on September 19 in a rape case and was booked under POCSO Act for assaulting an assistant choreographer who was underage at the time. He was released after Telangana High Court granted him conditional bail on Thursday.
Arrested for sexual harassment, rape:
A 21-year-old woman filed a complaint against the choreographer for sexual harassment, rape and multiple threats on several occasions.
In her complaint, the woman said that he would harass her on outdoor film shoots in various cities including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against him under the sections of the IPC 376,506, 323 (2) for rape, criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt.

He choreographed songs for films like ‘Stree 2’, Jailer, Thiru, Bhool Bhulaiyya 3, Double iSmart among others. Recently, he bagged a national award for Best Choreographer for the song ‘Megham Karigenu’ from Tamil dub ‘Thiru’ starring Dhanush, Nithya Menon, Raashi Khanna.
Earlier, he was granted interim bail of four days to receive his National award but the film award cell later revoked the prize.
