Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday reviewed the ongoing Patna Metro Rail project’s construction work.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the third TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) near Patna station in front of Buddha Smriti Park.
During the review, Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of Patna Metro Alignment Corridor 1 and 2 using the site map. He informed that priority has been given to completing a 6.01 km stretch of the Patna Metro Line, covering key locations from Malahi Pakadi to Khemnichak, Bhoothnath Road, Zeromile, and Pataliputra Bus Terminal. The targeted approach aims to ensure swift progress and timely completion of this crucial phase of the project.
The target is to commence operations on this metro line by August 15, 2025. For the construction of the underground metro section, work began at Gandhi Maidan station on November 21, 2023, using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). The TBM has successfully tunneled through Akashvani underground station and has now reached Patna station, marking significant progress in the project.
The Chief Minister also visited the areas around Patna Railway Junction and reviewed the progress of the Project. He sought detailed updates on the work plan and directed officials to accelerate construction. Emphasizing the project’s importance, he stated, “We have carefully designed the Patna Metro Rail Project to ensure seamless execution. Regular inspections are being conducted, and officials have been instructed to prevent any delays. The project should be completed on time to enhance urban mobility and provide better convenience for the people.”
On this occasion, Urban Development and Housing Minister Jivesh Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Anupam Kumar, Secretary of Urban Development and Housing Department Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Kumar Ravi, Patna District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Avakash Kumar along with other senior officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Patna Metro Rail Project were present.
