New Delhi: More and more cases of mobile snatching are coming to the fore from across the country, with most thieves targeting unsuspecting victims travelling in public transport.
In one of the recent incidents, a little girl lost her mobile phone as it was snatched away from her throw a train window during the night.
The video of the shocking incident has gone viral on social media platforms. It has sparked a wave of worry over safety of travelling in buses, metros and trains.
In the video, it can seen that the thief pounces on the phone in the girl’s hand. He forcibly grabs it even as the girl puts up a stiff resistance, hitting the thief’s hand mildly. The girl tries her best to hold on to the device, but in the end, the thief flees with the phone.
‘Mera phone le gaya’
In the video, one can hear the girl saying, “Chhod mera phone” (leave my phone).” The thief snatches the phone and melts into darkness. As the thief takes away the phone, the girl screams, “Mummy, Mera phone le gaya” (he took my phone away).
Another girl sitting in front of her looks in dismay and then, gets up as the thief snatches the device. The victim gets up on the seat, and looks completely hapless and helpless.

The video has triggered a public outcry and debate among netizens. They have raised concern over the thieves on the prowl and striking soft targets. Some have also recommended that the use of mobile phones by children should be supervised.
Some time, a video of a man losing his mobile phone to a thief while commuting in a metro train also went viral.
Recently, the Guindy Police (neighbourhood of Chennai) arrested four suspects who were allegedly involved in snatching mobile phones. They used to snatch mobile phones from pedestrians.
