New Delhi: Tensions increased in Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh on Monday after the wife and daughter of a police official were found murdered with a sharp weapon in their residence. The bodies of the mother-daughter duo were found 5 km away from the house. While the accused has been identified, he is yet to be arrested.
The accused has been identified as Kuldeep Sahu, a history-sheeter. After committing the crime, Sahu reportedly fled from the spot and is currently absconding. As soon as the incident came to light, angry protesters set ablaze several vehicles parked outside the house of the accused, apart from his wirehouse. They also assaulted the SDM and chased him on the road. The angry mob also surrounded the Surajpur police station over the murder. A heavy police force has been deployed in the area.
The accused threw a pan of oil on the constable
According to the police, the murder took place last night when the accused was in the district’s Chowpatty. Soon he reportedly had an altercation with a police constable, after which he threw a pan of oil on him and tried to run from the spot. The constable was injured in the incident. It was then that Head Constable Talib Sheikh tried to prevent him from escaping. However, Sahu then hit him with his car and fled away. After this, Sahu then reached the residence of Sheikh and killed his wife Mehnaaz (35) and daughter Aliya (11) with a sharp weapon.
Police form four teams to nab the accused
Meanwhile, the police have formed four teams to nab the accused. The search is on for Sahu in different districts of the state including Surajpur. The police are trying to catch him with the help of cyber technology.
