Chennai: With Diwali festivities approaching on October 31, Southern Railway has announced special train services to cater to the increased travel demand. To ensure convenient and hassle-free travel for passengers, the railway has introduced additional trains between Chennai and Coimbatore, and Mangalore Central and Chennai.
The Chennai-Coimbatore special trains will depart from Chennai Central on October 29 and November 2 at 7 pm, arriving at Bothanur station at 3.15 am the next day. These trains will halt at Erode, Salem, Gadbadi, Tiruvallur, and Perambur railway stations.

Conversely, the Coimbatore-Chennai special trains will depart from Coimbatore on October 31 and November 4 at 12.15 am, reaching Chennai Central Railway Station at 9.30 am on the same day.
Additionally, special trains will operate between Mangalore Central and Chennai. The Mangalore-Chennai special train will depart from Mangalore Central on October 29 at 7.30 pm, arriving at Chennai Egmore railway station at 10.45 am the next day. This train will stop at Salem, Jolarpet, Gadpadi, and Tiruvallur railway stations.

The Chennai-Mangalore special train will depart from Chennai Egmore on October 30 at 12.30 pm, reaching Mangalore Central Railway Station at 5.15 am the next day.
These special train services aim to alleviate travel congestion during the Diwali festival, providing relief to thousands of passengers traveling to their hometowns.
