Jalgaon: A hit-and-run case was reported from Maharashtra’s Jalgaon on Monday. A car running at top speed hit a bike-borne man and a woman. The driver tried to speed off after hitting the 2, but unfortunately the vehicle overturned on the road.
Woman crossing road injured, car overturns
Following the accident, 4 people are reported to be injured. These include the occupants of the car as well. The CCTV footage shows a woman crossing the road and suddenly a woman crossing the road is hit. She is flung into the air and falls to the ground, even as the driver flees. The entire incident was recorded on a CCTV camera installed on the road. Several other videos of the incident, probably shot by locals, are now doing the rounds on social media.
In one such video, locals could be seen pushing the car back to its position and helping out an injured person from inside. The car seems to be caught between some overgrown weeds on the side of the road. Two injured men can be seen in the video, being pulled out of the car, who were later helped by locals and taken to hospital.
The car driver first hit the woman walking on the road and then a biker. Several people on the road, some on bikes, can be seen chasing the car after it hit the woman.
No arrests yet, investigations on: Police
So far there have been no arrests made in this case. Police said that in an attempt to speed-off from the place after hitting the woman and the biker, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.
Of late incidents of hit-and-run and road rage leading to deaths have increased. Maharashtra itself has seen several such accidents in the recent past, starting from the Pune hit and run case, where a minor under the influence of alcohol hit 2 bike-borne techies and killed them, or the Mumbai case, where a man identified as Mihir Shah killed a woman after hitting her near the Worli area. She was travelling on a 2-wheeler with her husband, who had been grievously injured in the accident.
