New Delhi: Rohit Shetty’s highly-anticipated Singham Again is all set to hit theatres this Diwali. promising to be the ultimate family blockbuster. But before Bajirao Singham returns to the big screen, the film has encountered a few bumps with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Notably, it has requested several edits from the makers due to sensitive religious and cultural depictions.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC requested modifications to certain sequences that reference revered figures from Hindu mythology, asking Rohit’s team to make specific adjustments. Scroll down to read about them!
CBFC requests edits in Singham Again
A 23-second scene featuring match-cut visuals of Lord Rama, Sita, and Hanuman with Singham (Ajay Devgn), Avni (Deepika Padukone), and Simmba (Ranveer Singh) has been modified. Additionally, another scene showing Singham touching the feet of Lord Rama has been “suitably modified.”
The censor board also ordered the removal of a controversial 16-second visual that depicts Raavan “grabbing, pulling, and pushing Sita.” Another edit involves a 29-second segment featuring Hanuman burning and dialogue by Simmba that was seen as “flirting.” A separate 26-second dialogue and visual that reportedly “affected international diplomatic relations of India with a neighbouring state” has also been axed.
The makers clarified that while Singham Again draws inspiration from mythology, it’s purely a fictional narrative meant for entertainment. “The film is inspired by the story of Lord Ram, but its characters and narrative should not be interpreted as religious deities,” the report highlighted.
