Tumkur: In a courageous act, a young man in Tumkur district of Karnataka, caught a leopard by its tail and dragged it into a cage, saving the locals from further danger.
The incident took place in Rangapura, Tiptur taluk, Tumkur district. The leopard, a five-year-old male, had been roaming the area for several months, causing fear among residents.
Efforts of forest department
Despite the efforts of forest department personnel, the leopard managed to evade capture earlier on January 6, when a team of officials arrived at a plantation on Puralehalli Road with the necessary equipment to trap it.
The forest department team was unable to catch the leopard, which had been moving sluggishly and was not able to run as fast as it usually would. Frustrated with the lack of progress, locals grew angry and decided to take matters into their own hands.
Extraordinary show of bravery
A group of youths, including Anand, a local villager, formed a team to chase down the animal. In an extraordinary show of bravery, Anand grabbed the leopard by its tail, preventing it from escaping and helped drag it into a cage.
As the video of this act went viral, locals praised Anand for his quick thinking and bravery in facing such a dangerous situation. The forest department personnel, who had been unsuccessful in capturing the leopard initially, eventually managed to set a trap and secure the animal.
