New Delhi: A shocking CCTV footage has emerged, revealing the brutal murder of a 60-year-old businessman, Paras Rai, in Patna’s Danapur area. The video captures the chilling sequence of events, from the suspects’ pursuit of Rai to the fatal shooting inside his own home.
The incident unfolded on Thursday evening. Rai, returning home, was followed by six suspects on two motorcycles. As they approached Naya Tola locality, three of the suspects dismounted and pursued Rai on foot, their identities concealed by helmets, and weapons drawn. Unknowing, Rai reached his house. The CCTV footage reveals one suspect firing at Rai’s back as he entered. As he fell to the ground, further shots were fired before the suspects fled the scene.
Neighbours rushed Rai to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Superintendent of Police (West), Sarath RS, confirmed the details, stating that Rai had been shot five times in the legs and back. Five bullet shells recovered from the scene were collected by forensic experts for analysis. Police are investigating whether a long-standing dispute over Rai’s ancestral land was the motive for the murder.
Adding to the shocking details, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bhanu Pratap Singh shared an update that a case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Rai’s son. The complaint names nine of Rai’s cousins as suspects. This revelation points towards a possible family conflict at the root of the deadly property dispute.
Currently, the Patna police are actively conducting raids to apprehend the suspects shown in the CCTV footage. The video evidence, which has been widely circulated, has created significant public outrage and intensified the pressure on the authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.
