New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo at a public rally in Delhi and said while the former CM came in a small car, but now lived in Sheesh Mahal.
The senior Congress leader was referring to the car in which Kejriwal had gone to take oath after he became the Chief Minister of Delhi for the first time. Notably, the BJP has in recent times accused Kejriwal of staying in a sheesh mahal, accusing him of spending taxpayers’ money to refurnish his official house.
‘Architect of liquor scam’: Rahul Gandhi on Kejriwal, Sisodia
During his speech, the former Congress President slammed AAP leader Manish Sisodia too along with Kejriwal, and called both of them the “architect of the liquor scam” in Delhi. He also accused Sisodia of running away from Patparganj after being involved in corruption.
Launching an attack against the BJP, Rahul Gandhi added as per news agency PTI, “A few days ago, (RSS chief) Mohan Bhagwat stated that India did not get true independence on August 15, 1947, and it was achieved when Modi ji came. This means he insulted the Constitution and (BR) Ambedkar ji. If independence wasn’t achieved on 15th August 1947 then what is the meaning of this,”
Rahul Gandhi slams BJP
He added, “The fruit of freedom is our Constitution and BJP leaders say that we got freedom when Modi ji came and Ram temple was inaugurated. At the Ram temple inauguration, not one poor person was seen. Our tribal President was not allowed there. When Parliament was inaugurated, there also she was not called.” The Congress leader further said that while the battle of ideology is going on in the country, on one hand, there is the BJP-RSS and on the other hand there is the Congress.
