New Delhi: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s salary surged to $79.1 million in FY24, marking a 63 per cent on-year jump in compensation in the form of cash and stock. Nadella’s compensation included a salary to the tune of $2.5 million. He earned another $71.2 million in the form of performance-linked stock awards.
Nadella’s leadership has seen Microsoft’s share price surge since 2014, with FY24 marking a nearly 31.2 per cent rise in its market value.
Details of Satya Nadella’s compensation
The Indian-origin Microsoft chief’s leadership has overseen the tripling of the tech giant’s revenues to $245.1 billion, according to a regulatory filing. The company’s net income rose 4X during the period to $88.1 billion, according to the company. Nadella also agreed to a $5.46 million cash bonus reduction in 2024 to $5.2 million from $10.66 million earlier.
Nadella opted for the pay cut citing accountability for recent cybersecurity incidents which included the hacking of US administrative officials’ email IDs. The comoany has received a rap from the US administration for its cybersecurity failures.
To be sure, Nadella is not the only official to have received a handsome pay bump this year. Microsoft CFO Amy Hood received a 30 per cent pay hike to $25.8 million in FY24. Microsoft president Brad Smith also snagged a 29 per cent pay hike to $23.4 billion during the period under consideration.
