Mumbai: Security detail at Salman Khan’s house in Mumbai’s Bandra has been fortified with high-tech surveillance cameras, bulletproof glass on windows and on the balcony from where the superstar greets his fans amid repeated threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang which led to the shooting incident outside the Galaxy Apartment residence in April last year.
Mumbai Police personnel were on Tuesday spotted adding the extra security layer at Khan’s residence as a preventive measure.
Bulletproof glass at balcony
Sources said bulletproof glasses have been installed on the first-floor gallery of the house and all windows on the ground and first floors are accommodated by the actor and his family. The balcony on the first floor is the spot from where Salman greets his fans on occasions such as Eid, Diwali, and his birthday in October. The glass installation has been completed on one side, while work on the other side is ongoing.
In addition to the bulletproof glass, high-security barricades have been set up around the perimeter of Galaxy Apartments.
Increased security deployment
The Mumbai police have further bolstered security around the actor’s residence. High-resolution CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the vicinity around the clock and a police checkpoint has been set up directly opposite the residence.
Baba Siddique murder case and threat to Salman
This heightened security come in the light of serious threats linked to the Baba Siddique murder case. The case involves the murder of Siddique, an NCP leader and Salman Khan’s close associate, allegedly carried out on a contract worth Rs 17 lakh.
The Mumbai Crime Branch on Monday submitted a 4,590-page charge sheet in a special MCOCA court, detailing the involvement of 26 arrested persons and three absconding suspects – Shubham Lonkar, Zeeshan Akhtar, and Anmol Bishnoi. The charge sheet includes statements from 180 witnesses. The investigation revealed that Salman Khan’s close association with Siddique made him a target.
It also noted that Salman Khan was the primary target as part of the conspiracy by the Bishnoi gang and Baba Siddique’s assassination was carried out as plan B as the suspect could not target the actor.
Salman Khan’s feud with Lawrence Bishnoi
The increased security measures are also a response to a shooting incident last year. On 14 April, five rounds of gunfire were reported near Salman Khan’s house. Months later, Siddique was murdered. This attack underscored the seriousness of the feud and heightened concerns for Khan’s safety.
The imprisoned gangster, Lawrence Bishnoi, has a long-standing feud with Salman Khan and has issued multiple threats to the actor over the years. This hostility stems from the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case, in which Khan was convicted. The Bishnoi community holds Blackbucks sacred, and Bishnoi has openly declared his intent to target the actor.
