Farrukhabad: A bride in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district refused to get married to a groom upon learning that he was not a government employee but worked in a private firm. She rejected the groom even after the latter was earning a salary of over Rs 1 lakh per month.
The groom’s family had to depart the wedding venue after waiting for the bride, hoping that she would change her mind and proceed with the marriage rituals. The incident happened just before the ‘Jaimala’ was to take place.
The bride’s family arranged her marriage to an engineer
The bride’s family had arranged her marriage to an engineer. An intermediary, who arranged for their marriage claimed that the groom’s family lived in Kannauj in rented accommodation and that the groom owned six plots as well as 20 bighas of land. Just after midnight, the bride came to know that her perspective groom was not a government employee. After this, she refused to get married.
As the matter got out of hand, the family members of both the bride and bridegroom, as well as their relatives, persuaded the bride to change her mind. Seeing the matter getting out of hand the groom then called up somebody to send him his salary slips. He then showed his salary slips of Rs 1,20,000 per month to the bride. However, the bride still refused to relent and was adamant not to marry a private firm employee.
Both families shared expenses
The families of the bride and the groom then decided to share the expenses of the marriage among themselves and sort out the issue. After the agreement was reached, both sides settled the expenses, and the groom’s family returned without the bride.
