Moradabad: A group of Samajwadi Party (SP) workers from Moradabad’s Kundarki constituency was allegedly stopped by Sitapur police while they were travelling to Lucknow to meet SP leader Akhilesh Yadav. The workers were on their way to share their complaints about alleged electoral fraud in the recent elections, but they were detained by the police midway, raising concerns about the fairness of the police’s actions.
The workers, who belong to the Kundarki assembly constituency in Moradabad, were travelling to meet Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow to report that many people had been prevented from voting, while others claimed their votes had been cast without their consent. These issues were reportedly not addressed at the local level, which is why the workers decided to approach Yadav for support.

SP workers detained
On hearing about the detention, SP leader Anoop Gupta visited the Sitapur Kotwali police station to meet the detained workers. Gupta expressed his concern over the way the police had stopped the workers without providing any clear explanation.
As of now, the workers remain in the police station, and the reason for their detention has not been made clear.
Akhilesh Yadav accuses UP govt of ‘trying to suppress voices of people’
Akhilesh Yadav, in a tweet, criticised the actions of the police and accused the Uttar Pradesh government of trying to suppress the voices of the people who wanted to highlight issues related to voting in Kundarki. Yadav said that these workers had been on their way to Lucknow to expose the alleged electoral fraud and irregularities that had occurred during the election. He claimed that the police action was an attempt to prevent the issue from being brought to light.
The SP leader called on several authorities to take immediate action, urging the President, Supreme Court, Election Commission, Human Rights Commission, governor and the media to investigate the matter. He asked them to ensure that the people who were detained and stopped from raising their voices about electoral issues were given the justice they deserve.
