Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released its third list of candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections. The party has named 29 candidates in the latest list.
List for 2 phases of elections
The BJP’s list names 10 candidates for the second phase of elections and 19 for the third phase. Elections in the Union Territory are scheduled to be held between September 18 to October 1. The results of the elections will be announced on October 4. The first phase of the elections is on September 18, while the second and third phases are scheduled for September 25 and October 1, respectively.
The BJP announced the name of Ashok Bhat for the Habbakadal seat, while the candidate for Gulabgarh, which is a reserved seat is Mohammad Akram Chaudhary. Baldev Raj Sharma will be contesting the polls from Mata Vaishno Devi seat. Chowdhary Abdul Ghani is contesting from Poonch Haveli, while Murtaza Khan has been fielded from Mendhar. The other seats going to polls in the second phase are Reasi, Kalakote-Sunderbani, Budhal, Thannamandi and Surankote.
In the third phase, the BJP fielded Pawan Gupta from the Udhampur West seat, Sunil Bhardwaj from Ramnagar seat and Satish Sharma from Billawar. This list includes 19 names in total. Balwant Singh Mankotia is contesting from Chenani, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali is a candidate from Budhal, Mohammad Iqbal Malik from Thannamandi and Jeevan Lal from Bani.
