New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called an urgent meeting of all its MPs on Thursday at 10 am. The meeting will take place in the office of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju in the new Parliament building.
The agenda of the meeting includes discussions on BJP’s strategy in Parliament, particularly regarding the BJP’s planned protest on the issue of Dr BR Ambedkar. The MPs are likely to discuss instances where Congress allegedly disrespected Ambedkar.
Core BJP meet on Delhi assembly elections
BJP held a core group meeting focused on November 18 for Delhi Assembly elections to be held in 2025. The meeting was chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his office in Parliament House. Baijayant Panda, BJP’s election in-charge for Delhi, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, and several MPs from Delhi were among the attendees.
BJP sources revealed that discussions during the core group meeting centered around election preparations, organizational strategies and candidate selection.
Preparations for Delhi assembly polls
BJP National President JP Nadda chaired another meeting with the party’s General Secretaries on Tuesday night at BJP headquarters in Delhi. This meeting lasted almost two hours and covered topics such as the Delhi elections, organizational changes and other key issues.
In a post on X, BJP said, “BJP National President Shri J.P. Nadda presided over a meeting with BJP National General Secretaries at BJP Headquarters in New Delhi.” Sources indicated that the party’s first list of candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections would be released soon.
AAP’s list of candidates out
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has already announced its list of candidates for all 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections. AAP has been the dominant party in Delhi, securing 67 out of 70 seats in 2015 and 62 seats in 2020.
The BJP managed to increase its tally from three seats in 2015 to eight in 2020, while Congress failed to win any seats in both elections.
