New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack on Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, alleging that his wife, Elizabeth Colburn, “has links to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency”. The BJP also claims that Gogoi posed questions about maritime security in the Lok Sabha at the behest of the Pakistan High Commission.
BJP leader Ajay Alok, addressing a press conference, claimed that Colburn was an “ISI supporter” before marrying Gogoi in 2013 and had worked with Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, the vice chairman of Pakistan’s Planning Commission. He also linked Colburn to Senator Thom, allegedly close to George Soros, and mentioned her sister-in-law’s association with Caritas, an organization accused of conversions in India and funded by USAID.

“She has also worked with Senator Thom, who has close ties to George Soros. Elizabeth Colburn’s sister-in-law is associated with an organisation called Caritas, which is accused of carrying out conversions in India. The organisation receives funding from USAID, which is part of the deep state,” he said.
Alok demanded clarification from Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi, questioning the nature of Gogoi’s marriage and accusing the Congress of an “anti-national stance.” “Did he know about this before marrying her?… Was it a strategic marriage? The Congress will have to answer the question in this issue. It is because the Congress has had an anti-national stance since the beginning,” Alok said.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also weighed in, questioning Gogoi’s visit to the West Bank and its alleged facilitation by a US-based NGO, citing national security concerns. “Did the Hon’ble MP visit places like Nablus, Ramallah, Hebron, Jenin, Nazareth, and Bethlehem in the West Bank with the assistance of a US-based NGO? We seek details about this NGO due to serious national security concerns. We have a legitimate right to ask this question,” he said.
Furthermore, the BJP spokesperson alleged that Gogoi visited the Pakistan High Commission after his 2014 Lok Sabha election without proper permission. Following this visit, Gogoi’s organisation, ‘Policy for Youth,’ published an article accusing BSF personnel of misbehaving with Bangladeshi women. The BJP also pointed to Gogoi’s Lok Sabha questions about coastal maritime security, implying he obtained these questions from the Pakistan embassy.
The BJP has gone to extreme steps to defame me and my family. Their allegations are malicious and baseless. I will be taking the appropriate legal action.

Gogoi vehemently denied the allegations, calling them malicious and baseless, and threatened legal action against the BJP for attempting to defame him and his family. “The BJP has gone to extreme steps to defame me and my family. Their allegations are malicious and baseless. I will be taking the appropriate legal action,” he said in a post on X.
