Belaganj: A major controversy erupted in Bihar’s Belaganj seat, days before the constituency is going on bypolls on November 13. The seat is among the four seats bypolls which are going on bypolls. The results will will be announced on November 23.
On Saturday evening, when newly inducted Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders Osama Shahab was delivering speech and urged supporters to forgive party candidate Dr Vishwanath Yadav in case he has done any mistake, one of the supporters in the crowd intervened in between and said that the candidate did not “deserve forgiveness”.
Crowd started beating a man during Shahab’s speech
At this, other people in the crowd got upset and started beating him up. The incident has gone viral on the social media. Shahab is the son of Mohammed Shahabuddin, a four time MP and had recently joined the RJD along with his mother. Party supremo Lalu Yad had inducted him in the party as a primary candidate. Shahab had gone to the constituency to deliver a speech in support of Yadav.
Addressing the rally Shahab said that people of the constituency won’t be divided and that they will not be fooled by anyone. He further expressed confidence that voters of the constituency will choose the right candidate for themselves. He also urged the voters to elect Yadav for the unity and secular policy of the RJD. Observing that the RJD’s victory in the constituency is certain, he added that people who hate continue to divide between people.
Shahab’s mother unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha polls
His mother Hena Sahab had earlier contested the Lok Sabha polls this year, but had lost to Janata Dal (United) candidate Vijay Laxmi Kushwaha by a margin of 92, 857 votes. Shahabuddin died in New Delhi’s Tihar Central Jail during judicial custody due to Covid19 infections.
