Kolkata: It is precisely one year after the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya that Murshidabad becomes a new political arena around the issue.
Today the ‘bhumi pujan’ of Ram Mandir replica has taken place in Sagardighi of Murshidabad district. The event has set off a political battle between TMC, the ruling party of West Bengal and BJP, the main opposition party in state. This is playing out at a time when TMC supremo Mamata Bannerjee has attempted to corner BJP with its own brand of temple politics by expediting the Jagannath temple project in Digha, a coastal town of West Bengal.
Today Ambikananda Maharaj, President of Bongiyo Ram Sevak Parishad Charitable Trust has announced that Ram Mandir will be set up at different places pf West Bengal. He has added that not only Alankar village of Murshidabad but in every assembly segment of Murshidabad will have Ram Mandir.
According to political analysts the issue has scaled up when TMC MLA Humayun Kabir announced to build up mosque like Babri Masjid in Murshidabad.
But today Ambikananda Maharaj’s attack is not only aimed at TMC. He has shown his anger towards BJP also. He has said that it’s of no use to chant Rama Rama before the election only. This is because today none from BJP district or state leadership has showed up at the event.
On the other hand, Humayun Kabir has again said that the stone laying of the mosque will be on 6th December 2025. He has also mentioned about the percentage of Muslim in Murshidabad which according to him is 35%. Though he says that there is no politics involved in this.
