Patna: A nationwide Bharat Bandh has been called on Wednesday, with protests erupting across the country. In Patna, demonstrators gathered to protest the reservation issue, leading to a confrontation with police. As the situation escalated, police resorted to lathicharging the protesters who were causing a disturbance.
Since morning, supporters of the bandh have been protesting, causing traffic disruptions. In an attempt to control the situation, police used lathicharges, but in the chaos, an SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) was mistakenly lathicharged by the police.
SDM was in civil dress, Bihar Police beat him thinking he was a protestor.🤦🏻♂️😂
Hope he doesn’t lose his job…

The Bharat Bandh has sparked protests across several states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. In Patna, police attempted to control the demonstrations by lathicharging bandh supporters. However, in the chaos, a policeman inadvertently hit the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) with a lathi. Following the incident, three policemen were seen escorting the SDM, ensuring their superior’s safety.
Protests in Bihar
The impact of the Bharat Bandh was evident in various parts of Bihar from early morning. In Patna, supporters of the bandh blocked the road near Mahendru Ambedkar Hostel and set fires, which prompted the police administration to go on high alert. Authorities are working to maintain peace and order and they are taking measures to ensure the situation remains under control.
Meanwhile, a large group of Bharat Bandh supporters blocked the main roads in Jehanabad, particularly near the Unta turn on the Patna-Gaya national highway. The protesters are demanding that the government issue an ordinance to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision and align with their demands.
