Bengaluru: In yet another attempt to ease traffic in different roads of the city, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has rolled out a plan to broaden and redevelop the road which connects Bannerghatta Road with Kanakapura Road.
To boost connectivity and contain the rapidly increasing traffic volume in southern Bengaluru, the BBMP has introduced the Revised Master Plan (RMP) in the area. Under the project, approximately 5.5 km long road will be widened and other related works will be done. The roads will be widened to 24 metre which is expected to give relief from traffic in Bannerghatta Road and Kanakapura Road which are two of the most busiest roads of the city.
Road passes from these key areas
The road which is to be improved passes from several key areas like Hyder Ali Circle, Tippu Circle, and Kothanur Road, ultimately culminating at Kalena Agrahara Metro Station on Bannerghatta Main Road. The project will include several steps like preparation of detailed project report (DPR), land acquisition for the nearby areas across the road, demolition of old structures from the site, and new work on the road. For this the Bommanahalli Division of BBMP has issued invitation of tenders for consultancy services. According to the letter of invitation which was issued on October 4, six months period has been allotted for the completion of the project.
Land acquisition and compensation work
The BBMP is also proceeding with the land acquisition work by offering Development Rights Certificates (DRCs) as compensation for the land acquired for the project. The owners of the land will get twice the area of the acquired land either in monetary form or as territorial land in other parts of the city, through these DRCs. For getting these certificates the landowners are required to submit related documents to the BBMP’s Land Acquisition and Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) office under 30 days.
