Bengaluru: The season of Diwali is around the corner and most people have already packed their bags to go home. Well, not everyone is that lucky all the time. One woman recollected a Diwali from five years ago. She claimed that she had a difficult time during the festive season, but a delivery’s kind gesture left her feeling better.
Surbhi Jain, founder of Neend App, took to X to reminisce about a Diwali in the city. Jain claimed that she was alone in Bengaluru while her friends were away celebrating the festival with their families. The IIT Bombay alumna recollected that the only thing that cheered her up at the time was a delivery’s wish and smile. “Home alone in a big society, the only person who wished me ‘Happy Diwali’ in-person was Ramesh, the delivery guy who brought food along with a warm smile,” said the woman. She ended the post by urging netizens to appreciate those who knowingly or unknowingly make us smile with their small gestures.

The post resonated with many. They spoke of how some of them wouldn’t be able to go home for the festival due to workload. Others looked back at those difficult times from the past and took time to praise those who made them smile. “I can totally relate. Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference,” wrote one. Another commented, “True, sometimes these small gestures aren’t that small, and really goes a long way.”
