Bengaluru: The heavy rains continue to batter the Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore, for the last two days. It has not only affected normal life but also led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas and roads. In view of the heavy rainfall, Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner Jagadish G has ordered all schools and Anganwadi centres to close on Monday, considering the safety of students. An official notice regarding the Bengaluru school closure on Monday. However, there is no clarity regarding the continuation of school closures for tomorrow, i.e., October 22.
According to the official bulletin, “Moderate to heavy Rain/thundershowers accompanied by lightning is likely to occur at isolated places over Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural districts.”
Bengaluru schools and colleges closed on October 22?
The official order released by the Commissionerate has clearly mentioned that schools and Anganwadi centres are closed only on Monday. It has not mentioned anything regarding the reopening or continuation of school closures.
Many parts of the city experienced heavy rains today, as suggested by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD has also issued an orange alert for Bengaluru today, indicating very heavy rainfall of 11 cm to 20 cm. Considering today’s and tomorrow’s forecast, rains are likely to continue on October 22. Hence, it is expected that all schools and Anganwadi centres will remain closed on Tuesday as well. However, an official confirmation regarding this is awaited.
