Bengaluru: A bet for money took away life of a man after he accepted his friend’s challenge of sitting on a firecracker on Diwali night. As per the reports, his internal organs stopped functioning due to the shockwave from the blast.
The man identified as Shabari, aged 32 took a challenge with his friends that he would sit on a powerful firecracker in lieu of money. According to the reports from local people, all the people who were involved in the incident were drunk while they were bursting the firecrackers. The bet was that Shabari would get a new autorickshaw if he is able to sit on a cardboard box under which a powerful firecracker would be kept and if he failed to do it he would have to leave the town. Shabari accepted the challenge and lost his life.
According to the CCTV footage of the incident, there is a small rectangular box, on which Shabari is sitting. Around 5-6 men surrounded him and ran away after setting fire on the firecracker while Shabari continues sitting on it. Afer a powerful blast Shabari fells on the ground. He tried to get up but fells unconscious.
All six friends arrested
According to reports his internal organs stopped working due to the shockwave from explosion. The police have registered a case under section 105 for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. All the six friends named Sathyavelu, Naveen Kumar, Karthik, Dinakaran, Santosh Kumar and Satish.
